Robbie Deas reckons Kilmarnock have set the bar high after beating Rangers – but insists they won’t get carried away.

The defender made his Premiership debut by stopping the expensive Ibrox frontline and he’s determined that the Ayrshire side will keep up their hard work.

He said: “We’ve worked hard all pre-season and to reap the rewards in our first league game against one of the Old Firm is fantastic.

“It kind of sets a marker for us this season and we need to build on that.

“To be honest, we looked comfortable. We defended really well and limited them to very few chances.

“It comes down to our hard work, what we put into training and what the manager drills into us.

“It’s really pleasing as a defender to play in games like that, defend how we did and keep a clean sheet.

“It sets a standard for us and it’s up to us to keep it as high – if not better it.”

Killie visit Hearts on Sunday before welcoming Celtic in the Viaplay Cup and Deas reckons confidence is high in the camp already.

He added: “As the manager said before, last season we didn’t manage to get a result against the Old Firm.

“We know we’re more than capable of doing that so it’s up to us now to do that again.”
